3 Easy Ways to Save Money on Vape Stuff
Thu 16 Mar 2017
Vaping is cheaper than smoking they say….Well, for many vapers this simply isn’t the case. A combination of desire to buy the latest hardware, premium juice prices, the increasing cost of replacement coil heads and general hobbyist behaviour means that vaping can in fact be rather expensive.
But don’t worry, there are a few simply ways to cut huge chunks from your vaping bills. So here are 3 Easy Ways to Save Money on Vape Stuff.
1: Make your own e liquid
An obvious place to start for us. DIY e liquid is probably the best way to save money as a vaper. Even new rules restricting high strength nicotine can’t offset the massive cost savings DIY vapers enjoy. Let’s take three of the most popular pre-mixed e liquids on the market right now: Lemon Tart by Dinner Lady, Banana Milk by Moo E-Liquids and Dewbie by VGod. To buy 30ml of each bottle the total cost would be £44.47, that works out at almost £0.50 per ml. If you were vaping through 30ml per day, for example, your e liquid bill would be £15 per day, £105 per week and £5460 per year. To put that into context, it’s £2200 more per year than smoking 20 cigarettes per day. Now let’s look making your own e liquid using one of our most popular concentrates: Heisenberg by Vampire Vape. Mixing at 20%, you could make 150ml of e liquid out of one 30ml bottle of flavour concentrate. This cost of making this at 3mg using Nicotine Shots would be £13.79, that’s just £0.09 per ml. Comparing the DIY e liquid to the pre-mixed e liquid, you’d save a massive £4475 per year!
2: Building your own coils
If someone tells you that making your own coils is difficult, don’t listen. It really is a simple task, all you need is a (very) little bit of practise. The price of prebuilt coil heads has steadily increased over the past couple of years. For example, replacement coils for older Kangertech tanks such as the Evod and Aerotank we’re around £5 for a 5 pack. However, modern tanks use much bigger coil heads, and the cost of 3 replacement coils for a tank like the Smok TFV8 is a eye watering £10.99! In contrast, it can literally cost less than 1p per coil if you buy the wicks and wire and make them yourself.
3: Take advantage of TPD sales
We’ve written a lot about the TPD regulations here on the ELFC blog, but if you’re unaware of the implications of the new laws, check out our guide. The upshot is that many of the tanks, coils and kits on the market right now can no longer be sold after May 2017. That day is drawing near. In response, many retailers are already applying huge discounts to none TPD complaint stock, meaning that you can grab yourself a bargain before the new rules kick in.
